THE MEANINGS OF REIKI PRINCIPLES


JUST FOR TODAY, I WILL NOT ANGER

This means that day by day, you do not get angry, irritated or annoyed about anything or anyone.  It isn’t about being passive; it is about not getting angry.  It means find other ways of dealing with your problems.  Anger often arises when we feel out of control or want to control something and cannot.  Anger destroys relationships, but it most often destroys the person who is angry.  Anger tightens the blood vessels and makes the heart work faster and faster.  People who regularly get angry are prone to heart attacks.  Anger can act as a pointer to what thoughts and feelings you need to heal.  Give yourself Reiki as soon as you notice your anger rising.

 

JUST FOR TODAY, I WILL NOT WORRY

Worry blocks ideas, solutions and also abundance.  Let go of worry and the energy of the universe is able to flow into your life and activities easily.  Worry causes lack of abundance, indecision and anxiety.  Trying to stop worrying is easier said than done. I place my hands on myself and when the Reiki is flowing, I ask Reiki to heal the problem I am worrying about.  Then whenever the problem returns to worry me I say to myself, ‘Reiki take care of this’.  This way I don’t take it upon myself to solve the problem or worry about it.  I hand it over to a higher power (Reiki) to take care of it.  This has worked well for me.

 

JUST FOR TODAY, HONOUR YOUR PARENTS, ELDERS AND TEACHERS

This is about forgiveness.  It is about rising up to your higher self so that you can bless and forgive those who have hurt, angered, obstructed and censored you.  Parents, Teachers and Elders are the hardest people in our lives to forgive.  This principle is not about loving and obeying these people, it is about forgiveness.  Once you have blessed them, they are unable to hurt you anymore and you can let them go from your life.  Thoughts about them will drop away and not arise.

 

JUST FOR TODAY, EARN YOUR LIVING HONESTLY

This principle is about being honest with yourself and how you are living your life.  If you want to be happy, are you doing something about it or are you just sitting around moaning?  This principle will help you to find what you really want to do with your life and help you to put your dreams into action.

 

JUST FOR TODAY, SHOW GRATITUDE TO ALL LIVING BEINGS

This is about saying thank you to other people and other living beings as well as yourself.  Do you appreciate you?  When you have done something well, do you accept the praise others give you or do you find fault with what you have done?  Do you make excuses when someone gives you a compliment?  Do you say thank you for your opportunities and good fortune?  Do you praise and thank others?

 

Repeating these Five Reiki Principles at each hand positions when you are giving yourself a Reiki Treatment and you will discover them working in your life without you having to consciously make them happen.
